The Tampere Saints offers a great setting for children and youth to play American football in Pirkanmaa all year round.
Junior activities range from U9 up to U20. Join us to play the greatest sport in the world and develop as an athlete. You can find a place to play regardless of age, gender, size or skill level.
The Saints men’s and women’s teams are both among the top in their respective leagues, enabling children and youth to grow and develop up to the adult main league level.

Gear
For your first American football practice, you only need to bring sneakers or cleats, sports clothes and a water bottle.
You can get to know helmets, shoulder pads and other equipment with the loan equipment provided by the club, so it is not necessary to buy your own gear yet.
When you are buying your own equipment, it is advisable to contact your teammates, your team’s coaches or the club’s equipment officer.
COSTS
The first time is free and probably a few more times after that, but in a couple of weeks we expect you to know if American football is for you.
At this point, we will send you a bill for the membership fee, which in 2023 is 30 euros.
On top of this, there is a season fee, which for juniors is 550 euros, for the women’s team 500 euros + uniform costs, and for the men’s team about 500 euros + uniform costs.
The U20 team doesn’t have it’s own season fee, as U17 players pay the junior season fee and the older players pay the men’s season fee, which also includes playing for the men’s team. The men’s season fee starts at 450€ per year. In addition, everyone must pay a club membership fee of 50€.
Licenses and insurance
American football is a contact sport, where accidents happen.
Therefore, insurance is mandatory in league games and can be purchased either as part of the license or separately. Insurance purchased separately is usually cheaper, but it is worth discussing with your own insurance company what your personal accident insurance covers.
Although insurance is only mandatory for matches organized by the league, it is advisable to purchase insurance for the training season as well.

The women’s team plays at the highest level in the Maple League. In the 2023 season, the Saints placed third in a four-team league.
The women’s team practices on the Pyynikki and Koivistonkylä sports fields during the spring and summer seasons.
During the off season, the focus is on physical training and practicing American football techniques at the Tampere Trade and Sports Center.
Weekly gym training is led by physical trainers Jarkko Welling and Saara Passi at the BU Training Center and the Liikuntakeskus Polte.
New enthusiasts are welcome to join the practice sessions.

Upcoming practices:
Saints U20 boys will make their return for the 2024 season, and will join the SM series, which will be played 11vs11.
The team trains with the Saints men’s team on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays at Pirkkahalli. The practices will move outdoors in early April.
Boys U20 team practices with mens team in Pyynikki and Koivistonkylä footballfields at pre and in season. Offseason practices focus on weightlifting and developing football techniques. Practices are held in Pirkkahalli.

U20 girls practice with the women’s team, except for training camps preparing for matches, which are held within their own team.
The Tampere Saints’ U20 regional team for girls 15-20 years old will participate in the U20 National Championship series held this year, which includes four other girls’ teams from around Finland. The series is played 7 vs 7.

The U17 team predominantly consists of players born in 2008 and 2007 for the 2023-24 season. Players born in late 2006 can also play in the U17 league during the 2024 season. We warmly welcome new players interested in American football, regardless of their background, size, or other attributes.
American football is a so-called late-entry sport that can be started in youth or adulthood. Welcome to our relaxed but goal-oriented team! You can come and try it out at any point during the season. The club provides loaner equipment, which usually allows you to get started without significant initial investments.
In the 2023 season, the Tampere Saints’ U17 team competed in the 11 vs. 11 SM series against the Helsinki East City Giants, Helsinki Roosters, Helsinki Wolverines, and Seinäjoki Crocodiles. The team also featured players from the Pori Bears and Hämeenlinna Tigers.
During the off season, the team practices at the Tampere Exhibition and Sports Center, Pirkkahalli, and the Tredun sports hall on Sammonkatu. We also offer fitness training sessions that support the sport. During the playing season, we practice on the artificial turf fields in Koivistonkylä and Pyynikki. U17 players especially train together with the men’s representative team during the winter season.

The Tampere Saints’ U15 team competed in the 1st division during the 2023 season. The U15 team has clinched gold in their league both in 2022 and 2023. The team also featured players from the Pori Bears and Hämeenlinna Tigers.
In the 2023-24 season, the U15 team primarily consists of boys born in 2010 and 2009. Girls can play on the U15 team until they turn 17.

The U11 team for those born in 2011 or later offers elementary school-aged children the opportunity to explore the basics of American football in a safe environment.
The Little Saints team focuses on practicing techniques, learning terminology, and understanding the essence of the sport. The activities are goal-oriented but not overly serious.
There is room for all boys and girls, regardless of their background in the sport, and new members can join the team throughout the year.
The Tampere Saints U11 team competes in a tournament-style 5vs5 league in the 2023 season.

In Koivistonkylä every Tuesdays from 5pm to 6pm. Camp starts in May 23th and continues till August.
Camp instructors will be adult players from Tampere Saints, that might have older players from youth teams as an extra hands.
Camp members will only need clothing that suits for moving in outdoors. Own ball or other footballgear woun’t be needed.
You can participate at the start or hop on during the summer!
